Townscape focus review
1 min read

¶ COLLIE Shire Council will review the Townscape and Environment Committee’s areas of focus and geographical scope.
The committee requested clarification of its responsibilities amid its development of a long-term plan.
Shire chief executive officer Phil Anastasakis told councillors it needed to be considered whether the committee exclusively focuses on the CBD, if it looks at the whole townsite or the whole shire.
“Part of this recommendation is to give some guidance back to the committee around those boundaries,” Mr Anastasakis said.
The committee itself will also consider its spatial extent.
Mr Anastasakis said his experience with townscape committees is that the focus is on the townsite rather than outer localities.
Another consideration will be the potential addition of biosecurity issues under the committee's terms of reference.
In putting foward the suggestion, councillor Dale Hill-Power said the lack of a biosecurity group in Collie was to the “detriment of farmers”.
