¶ FOUR new student doctors have recently arrived in Collie for training at the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia.
Lucinda Grey, Emma Turbill, Rose Wisbey and Poppie Purcell have been familiarising themselves with the town which they will call home through to November.
They said it had been a hot introduction amid the soaring temperatures, but have felt welcomed in their first few days.
“The people have all been super friendly,” Ms Wisbey said.
“We’ve all felt quite welcomed. It’s such a change going from metro Perth to a rural town.”
“It’s a good change of pace,” Ms Grey added.
The students have been taking in some of the local sights and toured the hospital on their first day.
Ms Purcell and Ms Turbill said they had enjoyed meeting and getting to know hospital staff and are looking forward to making further connections.
Collie’s trails network has also already made an impression.
“I do a bit of mountain biking,” Ms Wisbey said.
“It’s a great place to be able to leave your house and have amazing trails 100 metres away.”
