Broadbent and Dorrington take out Muja Boys

DAVID Broadbent teamed up with Rance Dorrington to win last Saturday’s Muja Boys 2-person classic competition at the Collie Golf Club.
“Big Broady” and partner made short work of the challenging format. They combined effectively, resulting in few blemishes, to post an impressive 61 points to outlast the excellent field of 26 pairs.
Blair Malatesta and Connor Mumme took out the runner up trophy after achieving 58 points.
Jaydon Ellery and Jamie Pitchers snared the trophy for third on a countback from John Wray and Mark Malatesta. Those pairings along with two of the sponsors, Kim Metcalfe and John Souter-Robertson, returned 57.
The pairings of Jackson Broadbent and Krystyna Scoffern, Brett Smith and Paul Goodwin, Greg Bell and Terry Reeves and finally Colin and Logan Giblett, rounded out the mentions with a healthy score of 56 points apiece.
With novelties on every hole, the bounty was well spread amongst the field, with 14 individual winners on what was a terrific day.
Nearest shots were won by Jamie Pitchers (an eagle 3 on #1), Terry Reeves, Colin Giblett (x3), Bev Moyses (x2), John Brown (x2), Connor Mumme, Eric Annandale and Ron Annandale.
Long Putts- Trevor McCormick, John Williamson, Jay Robinson, John Brown, Jim Lovett and David Broadbent.
Long Drives- Rob Cavanagh, Jamie Pitchers and Jackson Broadbent.
Ireland and Moyses are foursomes champs.
A field of 22 ladies took to the fairways to decide the Foursomes Championship last Wednesday.
Angela Ireland and Bev Moyses scored a narrow win in the prestigious event with a 27-hole total of 148 strokes. 
Dion Smallwood and Vicki Graham were runners up on 152.
In the Nett section, Donna Smith and Terri Old claimed the title with a score of
116.75. Lesley Motion and Krystyna Scoffern were next on 119.5.
Novelties went to Lesley Motion (No 3), Vicki Graham (No 7), Peta Ellery (No 14) and Jodie Allison (No 18).
Leisure Day
Fresh from his holiday break, Greg Bell was straight back into his winning ways, claiming the major spoils in the Wildflower Tours- Forest Explorers sponsored Leisure Day competition. 
Bell was the only player to better his handicap with a return of 37 points. Trevor McCormick, consistent as ever, was next on 36. 
James Connell on 35 and George Dorozenko with 33 points made up the top four in a respectable field of 20.
Novelties were won by David Broadbent (No 4), Trevor McCormick (No 7), John Souter-
Robertson (No 9), Paul Moyses (No 14) and Kim Metcalfe (No 18).
Thirty fives scroungers enjoyed the much more pleasant weather for their 9-hole festivities last week.
Rodney Marshall, who continues to display prowess on the course, took the top spot clearly with 21 points over Brian Banks on 19 points.
Rick Shea, Gary Old and Eric Annandale nabbed a voucher for 18 points.
Danny Cheng (No 6), Neil Motion (No 7) and George Dorozenko (No 9) took out the novelty balls on offer.
Scroungers is on today (Thursday); Saturday will be an 18-hole Stableford sponsored by Earth & Soul Beauty Company. 
The annual Spry’s Meat Market Challenge has attracted a good field and the course is closed this Sunday September 22. 
Wildflower Tours Leisure Day is Tuesday and ladies’ competition day is Wednesday.
