¶ HORSEPOWER trainer Zoe Kellow celebrated gaining her level one carriage driving accreditation last week.
Miss Kellow, who has volunteered at HorsePower for 12 years, had already completed her coaching riding accreditation when she was approached last year to expand her skillset.
She said developing her carriage riding skills has been both challenging and rewarding.
“It’s quite different to coaching a class because I’m normally on the ground, demonstrating how to do things,” she said.
“Whereas here, I’m doing most of the work, I’m driving and taking people for a leisure drive.”
Miss Kellow described it as very rewarding work.
“It’s great to see a lot of the kids and adults get excitement from the ride,” she said. “They relax and have a lot of fun.
“I love horses. They’ve been something I’ve loved my whole life. Getting to work with them every week is really enjoyable for me.”
Miss Kellow encouraged anyone thinking of volunteering to get in touch with HorsePower.
“We’re always looking for new volunteers,” she said.
“If anyone wants to come and have a go, we welcome everybody.”
