¶ DOCTORS Bryan Wong, Hana Nguyen and Irfan Rahman are among the new faces to have been recently welcomed at Collie River Valley Medical Centre.
Drs Wong and Nguyen have GP registrar training placements, and Dr Rahman has a three-month placement under the John Flynn Prevocational Doctor Program.
Dr Rahman said he has enjoyed his time in Collie and is hopeful of returning after his initial placement.
“I’m trying to get another term because I really like it here,” he said.
“I want to be a rural GP and this training allows me to get firsthand experience.”
Dr Wong, who has previously worked in rural and metropolitan areas, has been dividing his time between Collie and Perth.
“I really enjoy rural work,” he said.
“I enjoy the drive here from Perth, and Collie has very nice weather and people.”
Dr Nguyen, who has worked in Perth hospitals, is also keen to build her rural experience.
“I have always wanted to do rural practice,” she said.
“People have been very welcoming here.”
