Garden's water wise addition

¶ OUR Community Garden will harness a new water tank to keep plants thriving and save on water bills.
The tank was recently installed following a $3900 donation from Premier Coal under its Community Support Program.
Secretary Ros Gardiner said that water is the garden’s biggest expense and its main focus this year is to minimise bills.
“The donation enabled the purchase and installation of a 25,000 litre water storage tank, which is a reliable and large rainwater storage solution, perfect for irrigating the Collie community garden and helping us to save money,” she said.
“The new tank also builds towards our objectives of sustainable garden practices, protecting and enhancing the natural environment, and educating the community about self-sustainability and reliance.”
Premier Coal operations manager Braedon Gaske highlighted the environmental, physical, social and mental wellbeing benefits the garden provides.
“We are pleased our funding could solve their water storage issue and reduce their water costs over time,” Mr Gaske said.
The garden has 35 members and welcomes anyone interested in joining.
Residents are welcome to come down to the garden on Fridays, 9.30am through 11.30am.
