Dam levels steady

¶ WELLINGTON Dam water levels are roughly the same as last year as they continue to fall during the drier months.
Wellington is currently at 48.2 percent of capacity, holding 89.18 gigalitres, dropping from 98.26 gigalitres in December.
However, levels are comparable year-on-year, with Wellington holding 87.07 gigalitres in January last year.
At the same time in 2023, Wellington was holding 128.51 gigalitres, and in January 2022 it was at 151.92 gigalitres.
However, in January 2021 it was holding just 80.08 gigalitres.
A run of dry weather through 2023 resulted in water levels falling, however rainfall in line with seasonal averages last year resulted in a slight rise.
Harris Dam is at 25.4 percent of capacity, holding 18.29 gigalitres.
This is also roughly the same as last year, with Harris holding 18.68 gigalitres in January 2024.
Glen Mervyn Dam is at 45.5 percent of capacity, holding 0.94 gigalitres.
Last year, Glen Mervyn was at 28 percent of capacity, holding 0.58 gigalitres.
Mungalup Dam is at 69.7 percent of capacity, holding 0.47 gigalitres, up from 0.45 gigalitres year-on-year.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, there is a 60 to 65 percent chance of exceeding the median rainfall in Collie from February through to April.
