Bulletin on the move: ‘Exciting new chapter’ unfolding for newspaper
1 min read

¶ THE Bulletin is set to move offices following its acquisition last September by Collie Community Radio (CCR).
The move to CCR's Steere Street South premises is likely to take place in the early months of 2025.
Collie Shire Council gave the go ahead for a variation to CCR’s permitted use of its lease, subject to ministerial consent, at its December meeting, paving the way for the Bulletin's move.
The original lease permitted “activities consistent with community broadcasting”.
However, under the lease variation, “activities consistent with community media” will be allowed.
The CCR premises occupies Crown land managed by the shire, meaning ministerial approval, which has since been granted, was required.
CCR secretary Anita Dyas said bringing the two entities together under the same roof is an extremely positive development.
Mrs Dyas added that it is a practical next step following last year’s acquisition.
“We were previously only covered in our lease for broadcasting,” Mrs Dyas said.
“However, the variation accommodates for publishing, which will allow for the Bulletin’s move.
“We will erect a sign indicating that the station is also the home of the Bulletin and, eventually, an umbrella sign - Collie Community Media - indicating it is the home of CCR and the Bulletin.”
Mrs Dyas said CCR is applying for charity status under the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia’s application process.
“Once complete, the next step in the integration process will be to make the necessary amendments to change the Bulletin from a private company to a not-for-profit entity and then amend our constitution to include the Bulletin,” she said.
Bulletin managing editor Martin Kovacs described it as an “exciting new chapter” for the newspaper.
“Locating the two entities together will allow for further consolidation of resources for the benefit of both the Bulletin and CCR,” Mr Kovacs said.
“This will bolster the Bulletin’s continued focus on providing informative and in-depth local news for Collie residents.”
