Adventure Race to show off Collie

¶ COLLIE Rotary Club is planning for an even bigger and better 2025 edition of the Collie Rotary Adventure Race on March 15.
Rotary has made a number of changes to the race’s courses this year, designed to show off Collie’s scenic surroundings.
The race will comprise four stages, beginning with a 10 kilometre kayak leg, which will see competitors get the event underway with a mass start at Minningup Pool’s Sandy Beach.
This will be followed by a 23 kilometre mountain bike section, which is now nearly 70 percent single track.
Competitors will then navigate a one kilometre swim, before finishing with a completely new 11 kilometre run leg, which this year will incorporate a section of the Wiilman Bilya trail.
The run will finish back at Minningup Pool.
“The running leg is now all on single track nearly and fire trail,” Rotarian Harry Wiggers said.
“It’s about 60 percent more challenging than the previous year.
“It will also have a lot better scenic views of the river and go over the suspension bridge.”
Rotarian Kalon Gibson said the race is a great advertisement for Collie and delivers flow-on economic benefits for the town.
Mr Gibson said there has been strong competitor interest in this year’s race.
“We’ve got significantly more registrations at this point of the year than what we had last year,” he said.
“We’ve got people coming back. We had people on the day of last year’s race contact us and ask how they could register for the following year.”
Last year, Rotary raised over $3500 in funds for Collie community organisations.
