RESIDENTS in Bedlington and Coombe Street, who have been dealing with bursting pipes for the past three years, have been promised action by the Water Corporation.

“We would also like to reassure residents we treat such matters as a priority and work to reinstate water supply as quickly and safely as possible.”

“Our crews respond to all bursts as quickly as possible, usually within 30 minutes of being reported.
“Water is switched off to avoid further damage or flooding to properties in the vicinity.
“It is not always possible to undertake repairs immediately (particularly at night), as it can pose a safety risk for our crews.”
She said that depending on the complexity of the burst, it may take additional time to assess the repair and source the required materials and equipment.
“At times, this may result in water being isolated until crews can return to safely complete repairs,” Ms Waite explained.
“We are not aware of any bursts on this main resulting in supply interruption for 24 hours.”

Resident Keith Blanc said those affected are forced to run contaminated wat
